Learning by Example

Saturday night, as I was finishing up dinner, I told Kinsie it was time to eat. Like normal she came walking into the kitchen and went straight for her high chair. Instead of reaching up her arms (indicating that she would like me to pick her up) she folded her arms and started chattering quietly to herself. She's never shown the slightest interest in folding her arms for prayer, so I quickly got Chad's attention and asked Kinsie if she was ready to pray. She smiled and folded her arms again. I was so excited about her willingness to participate that we didn't take the time to sit down; we just quickly folded our arms and said our little family prayer right in the middle of the kitchen. Our prayer for dinner was followed by several kisses and exclamations of praise and she's been good to fold her arms and sit quietly while we pray since then.

I'm simply amazed at how quickly she's picked up on little things like that and how she expresses her interest in being a "big girl". It's been a huge eye opener to me of how our children are always watching the things that we do and just how important it is for me to set that good example. I'm such a proud mommy right now and my heart swells with joy as I watch my little girl fold her arms to pray.

Britnee

I don't know what it is about her tongue, but Britnee can't stop sticking it out. I think it's the funniest thing. Whenever I see her poking it out I'll tap on it and tell her to put it back in her mouth. All she does is laugh at me. I wouldn't mind so much, but when it starts coming out during the sacrament it's hard not to giggle. I mean look at this thing....
I think it's safe to say that she's officially out grown her swing. I'll put her in it for a few minutes (so I can get something done with my day)but she starts to wiggle her way out of it once my back is turned. Just last night Chad and I were playing with Kinsie and I turned around to check on Britnee and found her like this...just sitting there watching us play. What a little nut.

Caught with her pants down

Time: 11:40 Sunday morning

Location: Relief Society meeting....front row

Culprit: 1 year old female

All known Aliases: Kinsie, Kins, Kinsers, and Monkey

Crime: Indecent Exposure

Witnesses: The mother of said culprit, The entire Relief Society Presidency, and a hand full of other sisters from the ward

Evidence: Diaper left at the scene of the crime

Description of events that took place:
At exactly 11:30 am the culprit was sitting in her mother's lap enjoying a mid-morning bottle.
At 11:35 am the culprit decided to remove herself from her mother's lap to visit with the sister who was sitting two chairs aways from her mother.
At 11:37 am the culprit's mother scooted over one chair to maintain a close proximity with the culprit.
At 11:38 am the culprit dropped her bottle on the floor.
At 11:40 am the mother of the culprit reached down to picked up the bottle only to discover that the diaper that was being worn by the culprit had slipped off her tooshie and was now sitting on the floor.
At 11:41 am the mother smiled and laughed(silently...she didn't want to interrupt the lesson that was being taught)then quickly scooped up the culprit and retrieved a second diaper.
11:42 am in an effort to scoop up the culprit into a basket hold the entire Relief Society Presidency was flashed by the young culprit. **Please note that no charges have been filed against the mother**
At 11:45 am the new diaper was placed and both the culprit and mother returned to Relief Society to enjoy what was left of the lesson.

Punishment: Still pending upon lack of desire to punish one with such a cute little tooshie

Plausible Deniability: The culprit may not be at fault as the diaper (which had been placed right before Relief Society started)was not properly attached by the mother. The mother claims that her lack of proper diaper duty was due to a squirming 1 year old. At this point in time it continues to remain a mystery as to how the diaper ended up on the floor of the Relief Society room.

Status: Case(not quite)solved!

Another day older

This last weekend we celebrated Kinsie's first birthday. It's hard to believe that a year has already gone by. We kept it simple and had family over for pizza, cake, and ice cream. I think Kinsie had fun. She couldn't get enough of the balloons I got her. She wouldn't let go of them and kept walking around the house carrying them around with her. She's such a little cutie.
Happy Birthday Kinsie! We love you so much and are extremely proud of you. Thank you for all the joy and excitement you bring to each day. Our lives wouldn't be complete without you.

Milestones

...at least that's what I think!

Milestone #1:
Kinsie is officially unofficially walking. Let me explain. She can easily walk across the room to get to me if she is encouraged and cheered on. She can also walk around the entire house holding onto nothing but my finger. She can also let go of said finger and take a few steps on her own without any encouragement. However, she too chicken to walk 100% on her own. So, it's officially unofficial! Maybe we'll have it mastered before her birthday next weekend.Milestone #2:
Britnee is finally holding herself up. It seems like she's been a bit on the slow side when it has come to holding up her head and to be honest she still struggles when I'm holding her in my arms. I think it has to do with the fact that she likes to lounge around and who can blame her! It's way more comfy lounging in my arms and why waste the energy trying to sit up when you don't have too right!?! Yet, in spite of that she's a champ when it comes to tummy time!
Milestone #3:
I have a baby Mozart on my hands...at least that's what I think!
