Dodged a bullet...literally!

While driving home from the temple late Tuesday night, with our neighbors sitting in the back seat, the back window of our vehicle was shot at. The bullet went clean through the window completely shattering the entire thing. UHP said they had never seen anything quite like it. Initially we didn't think we had been shot at, but upon further inspection of the window it was the only scenario that made sense. In our minds nothing else could have made a clean entry and exit hole in the same window going at freeway speeds. (When we first noticed that our window was shattered the holes in the window were much smaller, but upon driving home glass continued to fall out and expand the size of them.) Like I mentioned before our neighbors were in the car with us. If we had been going any slower down the freeway anyone of us could have been hit. Crazy!

Another -Possibly Final- Update

Had my weekly appointment this morning and I've made some nice progress.  I've dilated to a 3 and am now 60% effaced.  Yippy skippy, let the contractions begin.
My doctor asked me how close Britnee had been to her due date and if I had dilated with her.  I explained that she came about two weeks early and that my water had broken with her ( I hadn't dilated with her at all).  So, he gave me the option of waiting until I went into labor on my own, or being induced sometime next week.
I was a little torn and tempted on what I should do.  I've never been a big fan of being induced before your due date, for many reasons.  However, I seriously have huge issues with doctors who let individuals go past their due date without intervening.  I know, that seems a little messed up, but I do have my reasons.
I was tempted to say no and just let my body do it's thing, but in the end I agreed to schedule an inducement date.  I decided to go that route for a few reasons.

#1- (and the worst possible reason of all)  It's convenient for all involved.  I've been on pins and needles for weeks now trying to make sure I have everything gathered up, that the house remains organized and cleaned, and I've been striving to have the fridge and pantry stocked up with food.  Knowing when this little lady will be making her debut will eliminate a ton of the stress that I've been putting on myself.  It will also be nice for Chad and my mother-in-law to arrange their schedules according to a set time frame.
#2- I don't have to worry about pushing out a 9+ pound baby.  I don't think Chad and I will ever really have huge babies, but the closer I get to my due date the more I worry about the size this baby will be.  Britnee was only 6 pounds 4 ounces and it took me a little over two hours to push her out.  I know the first baby paves the way for the second, but I really don't know if I could push out a baby that was much bigger.  I'm sure I could, but I really don't want to try.  I also don't want to run the risk of requiring a C-section.
#3- I'll be 39 weeks along.  To me that is a happy compromise.  She won't be two weeks early, but she won't be a full 40 weeks either.  Right in the middle.
#4- Chances are I could still have her early.  I figured this gives me some time to try and get her here on my own, but also gives me the peace of mind that there is an end in sight, an end that will be coming sooner than later.
#5- I am not sleeping well and my body has about reached it's max.  I'm in an extreme amount of pain (especially at night) and the thought of dealing with it for a few more weeks almost puts me in tears.

There are a few more reasons, but these are my pain ones.  Yes, I recognize that they are all selfish, but I feel that a pregnant lady deserves a few selfish moments during her pregnancy and these are the ones I've chosen.  So, with that being said I'm scheduled to be induced next Wednesday morning.  2/1/12  Unless of course something happens sooner than that...fingers crossed!

Progress Report

At my last appointment my doctor confirmed that I am dilated to a 2 and am 30-40% effaced!  I'm really excited about that.  I know I can be at this stage for awhile longer, but it's still nice to know that I've made some progress.  Now all I need to do is start cleaning and vacuuming my house every other day along with some 30 minute elliptical sessions.  That should get things moving...right!?
Also, I think we've narrowed down some of our baby name possibilities.  I would also love to hear what some of you suggest about this next little bit!
First the background:  I've always liked the name Maylie.  In fact it came down to Britnee or Maylie last time around and Chad ended up winning that one.  When we learned we were having a girl I immediately thought we would just go ahead and use Maylie.  However, Chad's never been a big fan of that name and for months I couldn't get him to budge on it.  That being said, I knew he liked the name Mylie.  It's close to Maylie and was a name that I kind of liked too.  So, I finally decided a few months ago that we would go ahead and name her Mylie.  I told Chad that was the name we were going with and he didn't fight me on it, so that's the name I've been planning on using.  Until the other day...
I sat down and started going over spelling options with him.  UGH!!!! (Why does this guy, that I love so dearly, have to have such a strong opinion on everything!?)  After going over our options and explaining our reason for wanting or not wanting certain spellings, Chad finally says to me, "you can go ahead and name her Maylie, I'm sure I'll get used to it after awhile."  Again...UGH!!!  Really!  After months of getting used to Mylie he throws this at me.  Now I don't know what to do and again neither of us can agree on a spelling for that name too.  WHY DOES THIS HAVE TO BE SO HARD???
So, long story short we'll be taking those two names (Mylie and Maylie...spellings unconfirmed) to the hospital and seeing what fits our new little girl.  I do have to give a huge shout out to my sister Keri who sent me some great lists with spelling options for each of those names.  Hopefully Chad and I can come to an agreement on at least one of them.  However, any suggestions that any of you have would be great.

No Words

This is just pathetic!
And what's worse is the fact that this doesn't include the box of newborn diapers that are in another closet.  Oh, and let's not forget the diapers in two seperate diaper bags.  I think it's high time that two little ladies of mine start getting their tooshies onto the potty.  I don't think I can handle three in diapers for very long!

Three days of turning 2

This little beauty of mine turned two years old this past Sunday.  She was definitely spoiled this time around and ended up having three days of presents, family, and fun.  Of, course Kinsie got in on the fun too!

DAY 1- Living Planet Aquarium/Grandpa and Grandma H.
The Friday before Britnee's birthday was Chad's Friday off, so we decided to take the girls to the Living Planet Aquarium.  I would like to say that we had a great time, but we didn't.  It took us less than an hour to see everything, Britnee was terrified of anything and everything that moved, and towards the end Kinsie started getting a little freaked out too.  For the price and aggravation I would have much rather gone to the Zoo.  But, I did get some fun shots of Kinsie...proof that we did go.
Later that night Chad's parents came up to visit Britnee for her special day.  We went out to dinner with them, then came back to the house to open presents and have cake and ice cream.  The girls absolutely love their grandparents and just having them come and visit is exciting enough, but presents don't hurt either.

DAY 2- At home with Mom, Dad, and Kinsie
We were anticipating having Kinsie's birthmom come up and visit us this day, but she ended up having the stomach flu and was unable to make it.  So, the day turned into a relaxing family affair.  The girls made the most of it though and decided to wear their fairy wings and skirts.  We decided to open the majority of her gifts that day with just the family.
(I love that Kinsie is holding up and admiring Britnee's new shirt in the background.)
(It took Britnee awhile to warm up to this dog that barks and walks around.  She loved it from afar to begin with.)
(Blowing out the candles and so proud of herself!)

DAY 3- HAPPY BIRTHDAY/Grandpa and Grandma S.Since Britnee's birthday was on Sunday this year we also kept that day simple and low key.  My parents and two of my siblings came up for dinner, presents, and dessert.  They also stayed and chatted with me for awhile after the girls went to bed.
I think she (and Kinsie) ended up having a great weekend.  Happy Birthday little girl.  We all love you so very much!
